Craft ales are all the rage these days with boutique breweries and tap rooms popping up on every street corner. But in Cartwright & Butler’s native Yorkshire, we’ve been enjoying the good stuff for years, so we know a truly great ale when we taste one.

That’s why we’ve sourced some of our favourite brews from the heart of God’s Own Country and added them to our range for you to enjoy. Whether you want a ready-made gift set for the beer-lover in your life or want to build your own bespoke box where the beer’s the star, we’ve got the perfect ales for you.

Our beers come from The Great Yorkshire Brewery, based in Cropton, North Yorkshire, made with crystal clear Yorkshire water, British barley, malt and yeast, plus whole hops for beers that are bursting with flavour. We’ve kept it simple with a choice of golden or dark ale and nothing else. No fancy flavours or super-strong ABVs, just delicious, drinkable beer that could convert even the most committed lager drinker to real ale.

For an every-day ale that’s delicious on its own, perfect served alongside fish and chips, or even as alternative to wine with your cheeseboard, choose our delicate Yorkshire Golden Ale. With a gentle fizz and rich caramel and honey flavours, this 4.2% ale is a connoisseur’s choice and a great entry point into the world of real ale for beer newbies.

For something richer and smoother, try our Yorkshire Blackout Ale. This smooth, chocolatey porter with rich vanilla notes is the perfect beer for sipping by the fire on a cold, winter’s afternoon. Perfect as it comes and delicious with chocolatey desserts, this traditional ale – with a recipe dating back almost 100 years – is wonderfully rich and incredibly moreish. And at 5% ABV, it’s much lighter than other porters that really pack a punch.
